I oversee the Avstin Microscopy Lab. Pronounced “Austin.” Avstin stands for “Analyze, Verify, Spectroscopy + Imaging, down to the Nano.” Research in my lab utilizes a variety of tools and techniques from single particle research and applies them to problems of interest to materials science, forensic science, environmental science, and catalysis. Individual projects incorporate such topics as: aging of materials, ion detection, single particle characterization, imaging analysis, and instrument development.

Research openings for graduate students currently exist in my group, with an emphasis on imaging and optical spectroscopy of materials.
