Academic Achievement Center

The Academic Advancement Center (AAC) provides assistance in writing, mathematics, reading and study skills. A computer lab is available for research and has internet connections. Supplemental instruction in selected courses is available. The AAC also provides tutoring referrals. All assistance (except tutoring) is free to Ohio University students.

Allen Student Advising Center

The Allen Student Help Center offers guidance for students who have questions or have multiple concerns. The center has walk-in study skills assistance and provides Academic Success Workshops

Career and Leadership Development Center

The center helps student explore majors and careers that relate to their interests and values. Individual advising appointments are available and there are computerized career guidance programs for additional exploration. Staff can provide assistance with career counseling, job placement, interviewing skills and resume writing.

Counseling and Psychological Services

A staff of counselors and psychologists is available to provide students with confidential counseling and psychological therapy on an individual or group basis. Each year more than 1,200 students obtain assistance for a wide variety of personal, educational or career counseling. If students have personal problems of any kind (emotional, social, relationship, substance abuse, etc.), they offer help in better understanding and resolving problems. Students having educational difficulties can receive help in clarifying and resolving concerns.

The Office for Institutional Equity (OIE) coordinates services for students with permanent disabilities. Students who require services and accommodations must register with OIE by providing disability documentation in advance of need. OIE will answer all disability-related questions.

The Office of Education Abroad provides information about study abroad, internships, work, and volunteer programs. You may find, as many Ohio University students can attest, that an international educational experience can be the highlight of your college experience. Learning Commons

Location: Second Floor, Alden Library
The Alden Library Learning Commons is a learning space which integrates electronic and print information resources, computing, expert research and technical assistance, and tutoring. Designed to meet student needs and preferences, its collaborative study spaces invite working together, while its open plan also allows quiet study and computing.

The role of the Ombudsperson is to facilitate fair and equitable treatment of students, faculty, and staff within the University system. The Ombudsperson office can make inquiries on your behalf, help you make an informed response to your situation, mediate or facilitate discussions, and make recommendations for procedural or policy change.

Survivor Advocacy Program

The Survivor Advocacy Program (SAP) seeks to provide support and advocacy services to student survivors of of sexual assault, dating/domestic violence, and stalking. It works to increase survivors’ access to support and resources

A&S Undergraduate Student Affairs

The Office of Student Affairs assists students enrolled in the College of Arts and Sciences with academic advising issues and acts as a referral agent to other departments. Advisors can help students with selecting majors, interpreting DARS, and developing an academic plan.
