Athletics Travel Policy Guidelines:

Travel should be used to accomplish Ohio University business objectives in a cost efficient manner.

Employees are expected to:

➢ Exercise good judgment with respect to expenses.

➢ Spend Ohio University money as carefully and judiciously as they

would their own.

➢ On extended road trips, leave itinerary and list of participating staff and players

with the Athletic Director for emergency purposes.

The Following Applies To Employees

Traveling For Ohio University Chillicothe:

Vehicles must be reserved well in advance for the date(s) of travel or before using any personal vehicle for official business trips. The fleet vehicles may be driven by Ohio University employees and authorized students. Students must meet certain qualifications (i.e. no moving violations in the past 5 years).

Before leaving fill in the beginning mileage in the mileage log record book (kept in the glove compartment), check the gas gauge, and fasten your seat belt. STATE LAW REQUIRES THE DRIVER AND ALL PASSENGERS IN THE FRONT SEAT OF A VEHICLE TO WEAR A SEAT BELT. At Ohio University Chillicothe, we expect that all who ride in university vehicles will wear a seat belt for their own safety.

You will receive a Gas Credit Card with your keys. Use this card to purchase gas anywhere. Be sure to put the gas receipt into the card holder and return it with the keys. If the gas tank is less than three quarter full when you return, have it filled. On return, complete the mileage log book, plug in the car - in cold weather, check the car carefully, remove all litter, close windows (and latch them if applicable), lock doors, and report any damage, malfunction, or accident to the Information Desk immediately upon your return to campus. Accidents, which occur off campus property, should be reported to local police. Return car keys promptly to the Information Desk.
