As part of the student services department, Career Services at Ohio University Chillicothe assists students with career development, major selection, identification of strengths and interests, resume development, internships, and job placement.

Our services include:

➢ Assisting students in identifying interests, strengths, barriers, and resources.

➢ Administering career assessments and inventories. Popular assessments include:

➢ Self-Directed Search

➢ Developed by Dr. John Holland, this simple to use "paper and Pencil"

assessment is based on the premise that there are 6 types of personalities and most people are a combination of three. The assessment generates career suggestions based on personality combination. 


➢ O*NET OnLine


➢ produced by the Department of Labor, this tool assists users in identifying

information about themselves and can use the information to explore occupations. Go (here) to access O*NET OnLine. Select the purple “I want to be a …” button and then select the purple START button in the “Tell Us What You Like To Do” box.


➢ Job/internship, Career exploration and placement.


➢ Instruction and support for developing effective resumes and interview skills.


➢ Access to printed and online resources.


➢ Academic courses for choosing a major and preparing to work:

➢ UC 2900 Applied Career Development (self-awareness, professional resume and

other documents, job shadowing experience…)

➢ UC 1000 Mastering the College Experience (study skills and exploring majors)


➢ Maintain physical and electronic job postings. Visit the job board located outside of

➢ Post a job – we are happy to post any job opportunity electronically, on bulletin

boards, and to distribute to students and faculty.


➢ On-campus interviews.


➢ Participate in the annual job fair - Ohio University Chillicothe, in conjunction with the

Ross County Chamber of Commerce, Ohio Means Jobs, and other partners, hosts an annual job fair each spring. Please let us know if you are interested in participating.


➢ Internships – internships provide businesses access to employees who are learning

the most recent methods and practices while providing experiential learning for the student. Internships provide students with an opportunity to participate in a meaningful work-based experience, enhance their skills set and increase their competitiveness.
