OHIO’s Marching 110 become Internet celebrities

Video of band boogying hits more than 1.4 million views

"The Most Exciting Band in the Land" may soon become the most viral band in the land after a video featuring the Marching 110’s halftime performance of dance group LMFAO's hit song "Party Rock Anthem" was posted on YouTube*.

Only four days after it was uploaded, the video had hit more than 1.4 million views on YouTube and has been shown on CNN and Fox News and embedded on

Though the video has viewers hailing from Germany, Denmark and Austria, Band Director Richard Suk remains humble, asserting that the performance was no different from any other halftime show.

"It’s just what we do every week," he said. "I guess it just pushed the right buttons with it being a popular song right now."

The band set about learning that now-famous choreography as soon as the song was arranged for a marching band performance.

"The other dance commanders (Rocco Contini and Michael Reeves) and I met on Tuesday night and had the dance done in four hours," explained Tyler Charles, one of the Marching 110's dance commanders. "The band had it memorized by Thursday and the rest is history."

Although the Marching 110 is known for their high-energy performances and dances, none of the members foresaw the splash this video would make.

"It’s kind of crazy. It wasn’t a big deal for us because it was the same thing we did every Saturday," said Contini.

Even though the performance may have been just another game to the Marching 110, it has caught on around the world.

"It feels pretty good (to be recognized)," echoed Charles. "We do the same thing every week and to hear that we have over a million views on YouTube feels really good. It’s our 15 minutes of fame."

If you missed the performance don’t expect to see it again next week. The Marching 110 doesn’t repeat numbers, but the band is covering Led Zeppelin for Homecoming.

"It’s going to be interesting to try and compete with ourselves," Contini said. "We’re going to do our best to step up and give them (the audience) what they want."
