Ohio University President Roderick J. McDavis discusses OHIO’s tobacco-free policy

The latest video on the Ohio University Tobacco-Free Initiative website features an address by President Roderick J. McDavis to the OHIO community in advance of the Athens campus’s tobacco-free policy going into effect in August 2015.

President McDavis provides background on the policy and connects OHIO’s upcoming policy banning tobacco products to the growing trend of universities throughout the United States.

“We will join more than 1,000 campuses nationwide who ban the use of tobacco on their campuses,” McDavis says.

He also includes a brief overview of the policy itself, the exceptions of FDA-approved nicotine replacement therapy for those trying to quit and a reminder that there is community-wide accountability for compliance at the University. He also directs viewers to the tobacco-free website for more information.

President McDavis concludes: “I hope that you will join me in celebrating a healthier, greener OHIO as we become a tobacco-free campus.”
