Passport to The OHIO Guarantee event to be held Oct. 7

The second event in a three-date offering to help educate the Ohio University community about the new tuition and fee structure, The OHIO Guarantee, will be held Tuesday, Oct. 7 from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. in the Walter Hall rotunda. The event is open to all members of the University community – faculty, staff and students.

How it works

The Passport to The OHIO Guarantee event is meant to be interactive and informative while giving participants a look at the new structure through the eyes of an OHIO student. Participants in the Passport event received a card containing the details that make up the persona of a fictitious OHIO college student under The OHIO Guarantee. Each student has a different background and set of challenges they may face as they navigate the new tuition and fee program.

  1. Tables set up in the Walter Hall rotunda represent the different offices each student will need to work with to ensure they understand how The OHIO Guarantee works for them.
  2. Staff members from Admissions, Housing, Culinary, Registrar, Bursar, and Financial Aid will answer questions and provide advice for each student persona. Participants can move through the room at their own pace, spending as much or as little time on a topic.
  3. Upon completing their journey around the room, they end at the final table, called “The First Day of Class,” to receive a special reward for completing the Passport event, as well as their official passport. The spiral-bound passport contains each of the personas from the event, as well as information to answer questions about The OHIO Guarantee.

In addition to the main event in the rotunda, a viewing room next to the rotunda will feature a series of short videos recently produced by University Communications and Marketing (UCM). The OHIO Guarantee videos address common questions students may ask about the program.

A photo booth from Class A Sounds will be set up at the event for participants to capture the memory of their journey (see images at left). This souvenir serves as a reminder of their trip around the rotunda in advance of a pioneering new program.

A third and final Passport event will be held Wednesday, Nov. 12.

This link allows you to RSVP to either the Oct. 7 or the Nov. 12 Passport events. Please provide your name, e-mail and which date you’ll be attending.

Here’s what people are saying

Through a survey conducted at the conclusion of the first Passport Event and a preview event, UCM was able to collect valuable feedback about the event. Here are some comments participants at the Sept. 10 event (and Aug. 26 preview) had to say about their experience.

“Fun & interactive. Great for learning.”

“Really helpful! Thanks for bringing all the players in for the questions and info.”

“Very nice event! Thank you! (Much better than a lecture).”

“Explain to those invited it is not just a presentation, it’s better than that.”
