OHIO Alumni Association claims 4 CASE V district awards

Industry award tally for OUAA climbs to 7 for 2015

To say the OHIO Alumni Association is having a banner year would be an understatement. Not only has the OHIO affinity champion hosted more successful signature and chapter events throughout the country than ever before, OHIO Alumni initiatives are among those leading the district in best practices. This fall, the Association has been recognized with four CASE V district awards, bringing the final tally for 2015 industry nods to seven.

“Ohio University is fortunate to have an alumni network that is actively engaged and deeply invested in the future our alma mater. Their unfailing devotion speaks to the excellence of the Ohio University Alumni Association,” said President Roderick J. McDavis, ’70. “I am very proud to see the Association’s efforts recognized through the CASE V awards program. These honors are well deserved and will undoubtedly advance Ohio University’s national prominence.”

The most significant award was in the Platinum Category for Best Practices in Alumni Relations. The OHIO Alumni Association took home the Bronze Award for its innovative efforts with Review, Realign, and Realize, the Association’s organizational restructure and implementation of a tier system for chapters and societies. The award effectively distinguishes OHIO as one of the top three alumni organizations in the district.

“I’m so grateful to my team and their outstanding efforts this year,” said Jennifer Neubauer, assistant vice president of Alumni Relations and executive director of the Alumni Association. “For so much of the year we have our noses to the grindstone moving from one large event or program to the next, and it is nice to be able to step back and feel proud of all we have accomplished for the University, and celebrate the Association’s individual and team-wide success."

The Association also received the Bronze Award for Best Volunteer Engagement Program for its Celebration of Volunteerism Dinner and Reception during On The Green Weekend, and the Silver Award for Best Annual Report. The inventive 2014 video report titled, Extending the Reach, is a snapshot look at the Association’s successful year and was produced in partnership with Sway the Crowd, a Columbus video production company.

Finally, the OHIO Alumni Association received the Silver Award for Best Diversity Program. Alumni Pride Allies is a strategic effort to connect OHIO’s LGBT Center with the alumni community through events, trainings, partnerships and programs in the hopes of continuing to build a culture of support and acceptance for all members of the OHIO community.

“The Board and staff of the Association are committed to ensuring that the OUAA is as inclusive as possible,” said Julie Mann Keppner, BBA ’02, chair of the OUAA Board of Directors.  “We take great pride in celebrating diversity and this award demonstrates the Ohio University Alumni Association’s commitment to inclusivity. I am proud of all the hard work the staff has accomplished this year and that they have made this a top priority. It is such an amazing honor to be recognized by CASE for our collective effort and commitment!”

The Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) is an international association of education advancement officers, who include alumni administrators, fundraisers, public relations managers, publications editors and government relations officers. The ultimate goal of advancement professionals is to enhance their institutions by bringing in support — be it in the form of money, alumni loyalty, public esteem or new students. In turn, CASE’s purpose is to help these people advance the cause of education. It does this by offering information resources and training opportunities to aid its members.

Earlier this year, the Student Alumni Board won the CASE V ASAP Outstanding Organization award, as well as the Silver Award for Best Student Alumni Initiatives for their Homecoming spotify playlist. The OHIO Alumni Association also took home the Bronze Award for Best New Alumni Program for On The Green Weekend.

The Pride of CASE V Awards Program honors the best and most innovative advancement professionals in higher education. District V encompasses all colleges and universities in Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio and Wisconsin. Awards are presented each year at the district's annual meeting in December.
