A Heritage College faculty member and a former OHIO doctoral student were on the research team that recently announced a major new dinosaur find from Egypt. Anatomy professor Patrick O’Connor, Ph.D., and Eric Gorscak, Ph.D., now a postdoctoral research scientist at The Field Museum of Natural History in Chicago, helped author an internationally collaborative paper just published in the journal Nature Ecology and Evolution, which identifies a new titanosaurian dinosaur that has been christened Mansourasaurus shahinae. The Mansourasaurus discovery shines much-needed light on dinosaurs in Africa during the last days of the dinosaurs – the late Cretaceous era from 100 to 66 million years ago.
In addition to his research work, Dr. O’Connor also plays a major role in academic affairs at the Heritage College, serving as interim associate dean of academic affairs and directing its clinical presentation curriculum.
