Welcome to CORE
The CORE is the division within the Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine responsible for overseeing the quality and operations of osteopathic graduate medical education.
Supporting and sustaining a partnership to enhance osteopathic medical education for those we serve.
The CORE exists to protect the integrity of the osteopathic profession, provide quality education, promote innovation, creativity and excellence in medical education. We support the development of primary care physicians and specialists, foster research, and strive to develop community-based faculty to teach and administer training programs. The CORE supports and promotes the development of an infrastructure that produces osteopathic physicians who are educators, researchers, and administrators with a goal to continue to expand and enhance osteopathic contributions to the nation’s health care system.
A Time of Transition
In a process now well underway, the ACGME, the AOA, and the AACOM have agreed to a single accreditation system for graduate medical education programs in the U.S. The CORE is undergoing a transformation to continue to support residency education in a new environment. As some of our programs enter into the Single Accreditation System under ACGME, we are continuing to operate as an OPTI and provide essential services to those residency programs operating under the American Osteopathic Association.
CORE Services and Resources for Clinical Faculty and Residents
