Office OF Rural and Underserved Programs (ORUP)
Who We Are
The Office of Rural and Underserved Programs and its initiatives were supported initially with funding through the Osteopathic Heritage Foundations (OHF) Vision 2020 Grant (awarded 2011).
Preparing learners for patient-centered primary care in underserved places
We prepare learners in medical school and residency for patient-centered primary care in rural and underserved communities, and for the generalist specialties of primary importance to these communities, through community engagement, ongoing curriculum design, program implementation and assessment, faculty development, student support, and medical education research.
The application for proposals for Medical Education Research is now open.

Patient-Centered Primary Care Curriculum
Enhancing patient-centered primary care curriculum
When doctors are reimbursed for good outcomes rather than the volume of patients they serve, the move to a more efficient and effective patient-centered model becomes an economic necessity as well as good care.
