Complete a nursing application in the nursing office.

Complete an application to Ohio University Southern with pre-nursing (ND 0210) llisted as your major, along with the $20 nonrefundable application fee (or complete a change of major to pre-nursing ND 0210 if already an OU student in a different program).

Submit official transcripts (in sealed envelopes) from all previous schools attended, including college, vocational/technical programs, and high school/GED. Students must be a graduate of high school or hold certificate of high school equivalency (GED).

Submit official ACT scores. A minimum of 23 is required for students wishing to enter the program straight from high school.

Submit to the nursing office a essay stating educational and career goals (typed; no more than 1 page). This is your opportunity to tell the selection committee why you should be chosen for the nursing program.

An established minimum college grade point average of a 2.75 (or a high school GPA of a 3.0 on a 4.0 scale for students wishing to enter the program straight from high school).

The applicant must have completed courses in algebra, biology, and chemistry at the high school or college level with a minimum grade of a C in each course before the deadline.

ACCUPLACER Placement Test is required for all new students. Please contact the Resource Commons, 740-533-4596, to schedule an appointment. You must place into a Tier I Math and English or complete the required developmental courses PRIOR to the deadline. Transfer students do not have to take the ACCUPLACER exam if they have a course in English or Math that transfers from a previous college. This includes developmental courses, ENG 1510, and MATH 1200 or higher.

HESI A2 Nursing Admissions Exam, students must have an overall score of a 75% on the A2 in both Math and English. It is also required to test in Science, no minium score required for this section. This test will be administered each fall semester. You can call the Resource Commons at 740-533-4596 to make an appointment. Test codes can be purchased in Student Services and study guides can be purchased in the bookstore.

Applicants will be required to have a completed FBI and BCI fingerprint report (criminal background check). This will be completed after you have been selected for the program.
Disclaimer: Even if all of the above is completed prior to the deadline, you will still have to go through the selection process to determine if you will be chosen for advancement into the second year of the BSN Program. Completion of all of the above does not ensure you will be accepted.
The baccalaureate degree program in nursing at Ohio University Southern is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).

The pre-licensure BSN program at Ohio University Southern is approved by the Ohio Board of Nursing.
