In 2006, research institutions across the state joined to form the University Clean Energy Alliance of Ohio (UCEAO). This innovative group is dedicated to advocating for clean energy research and education, informing policy makers, bringing together researchers and business leaders and focusing Ohio energy research on job creation.

Ohio University is one of 15 founding universities.

Through focus groups, conferences and meetings, UCEAO is working to advance the group’s goals and provide more direction concerning what specific types of energy research should be emphasized in the state of Ohio. UCEAO is also expanding to involve a wider range of higher education institutions, including community colleges and technical colleges, as well as private and independent universities.
