On March 13, 2015 Startup Weekend will return to Athens at the Ohio University Innovation Center.

An early bird special grants reduced registration prices until Friday, March 6.  With this discount, students pay $45 and non-students pay $75.  After March 6 the fees rise to $49 for students and $99 for non-students.  The money for registration includes all meals and activities for the weekend. There is no on-site registration.  For more details, go to: http://www.up.co/communities/usa/athens-oh/startup-weekend/5699.

Check-in begins at 5:30 and events will last until about 7 p.m. on Sunday, March 15.  The program provides an opportunity for any person with a startup idea to pitch their concept and receive feedback from their peers.  After ideas are voted on, teams form around the most popular concepts and spend the rest of the weekend using their unique skill sets to create a business model, code, design, and start a market validation.  This phase lasts a busy 54 hours before the final presentations wrap up and the judges announce awards at a final dinner.

Numerous speakers, coaches, and community leaders will give talks and provide assistance for the participants.

This event is sponsored by Ohio University’s Innovation Center, located at 30 W. State St. in Athens, as well as Create_space, The Center for Entrepreneurship, Scripps College of Communication, Business Remixed, and TechGROWTH Ohio.
