School Leadership

To be the nation’s best transformative learning community where students realize their promise, faculty advance knowledge, staff achieve excellence, and alumni become global leaders; this is the Ohio University vision. How does everyone at the Voinovich School make this vision a reality? We educate students and improve kids' access to college, their student performance and science and math education in Appalachian Ohio. We educate students and improve the quality of watersheds and promote advanced energy solutions. We educate students and shape government and non-profit officials into better strategic leaders and provide them with the key research they need for better decisions in health care, children’s safety, green jobs, and environmental sustainability. We educate students and create jobs and build companies.

The Voinovich School is the leader in building a model for the future of higher education in applied learning and multidisciplinary problem solving at Ohio University. We’ve developed a state and national reputation for harnessing the power of this University to propel the private sector, and build value in the public and nonprofit sectors.

Top students from across campus are integrated into hundreds of real world projects every year for government, business and nonprofit organizations with the majority of project work in Appalachian Ohio. Students are enrolled in our collaborative degree programs and work with more than 80 engaged faculty and professional staff and our partner colleges in the School’s three innovative academic programs: Energy and Environment, Policy Innovation and Strategic Leadership, and Entrepreneurship and Regional Development.

As a School of Leadership and Public Affairs we have an obligation to advance the University’s educational vision, to provide faculty and professional staff multidisciplinary opportunities to advance knowledge, and to transform the economy and quality of life in our region.

I am proud of what we have accomplished and look forward to continuing to build a better future for this region, our nation and the world.
